I’ve fitted hundreds of cv boots using my cone. Turn the boot inside out pull it on big end first then once it’s on turn it right way in. Can be a bit of a pain but deffo easier than taking it fully apart.

I bought a cheap mountain bike last year as a project to get back into riding, the rear brake was spongey so I took out the tiny 5mm bleed screw in the caliper to bleed it, immediately dropped it right by my foot, without moving I bent down to pick it up and it had completely vanished! Couldn't find anywhere that sold the right type of screw to replace it so had to buy an entire new caliper.... Fast forward to yesterday when I was having a bit of a clearout of my room, found the screw on the entire opposite end of the room in a place that there's no possible way it could have just rolled or bounced there. I'm pretty sure those things sprout legs and make a bid for freedom!

I put the boot in hot water to soften it - then turn inside out an push it over ( big end first )

Hi Chris excellent video to get the CV joint off the end of the drive shaft you need to get the gap of the circlip at the bottom, it will close up a lot easier and it’ll pop off !
