I came across your channel while on an ongoing journey to educate myself a little about AI. My experience maybe to some extent what you're talking about in microcosm. I'm severely dyslexic but have been involved in FX and animation for years and tech is now a big part of that. When last Xmas my M1 macbook pro went down I had to replace it with something same day. I found and bought an M1 macbook pro 64gig max... (by accident) and then discovered I could run local models, and developed workflows locally that mostly solve dyslexia problems. The coding side of things has also been opened up to dyslexics.... screams of horror ring out... take care and thanks.
I couldn't agree more with everything you said. I'm running M3 Ultras with 512GB RAM and already finding there is not much I can't do with open-source models on this hardware, let alone what is coming in the next few years. I started out using five of them in a TP5/PP5 setup for massive models, but now I'm getting better results from models that fit well under 512GB. The one thing that hasn't changed is the need for better harnesses and workflows, exactly as you described. I suspect most developers need to go through this journey themselves to realize that chasing the latest OS model or smartest cloud API is not as important as fixing the foundations.

We have to remember what Apple is building. Apple is building the R2D2 that protects your data and doesn’t send it unencrypted to the Imperial Interweb. Apple’s server-side is here, but now the priority is to keep the data secured and local.
This is a kind of progress I am expecting to see and I’m happy that Apple has chosen this path.

The B200 has memory bandwidth of 8 terabytes per second. Rubin has memory bandwidth of 22 terabytes per second. Apple is 800 GB / second. Don’t think they will be competing with data centers even in 2028.
Touché’… I’m Bris based and for the past three years I’ve built and iterated the programmatic machine (harness) and deterministic logic cores or what I call factory modules knowing it was always the real tech needed to unlock the power of the models.
