Singapore motorists may soon use their ERP 2 on-board unit (OBU) to pay for roadside parking instead of using the Parking.sg app. A roll-out date for the new roadside electronic parking (REP) feature has not been announced but around 1,000 motorists have started testing it from Monday (Aug 3). The Urban Redevelopment Authority said that in cases where multiple nearby parking locations are shown on the OBU touchscreen due to the close proximity of the car parks, motorists are advised to choose the topmost option. Motorists need not step out of their vehicle to check. CNA’s Justin Ong tries it out. Still need to walk a distance to check the carpark code 😅 1 word ...... SIOW
Maybe it’s more advanced tech but somehow feels like technology went backwards LOL stepping out to check just to go back in to punch in the code is so extra 😂
What is this nonsense got to walk all the way and check the code 😅
How convenient it is?!? Walk out and walk back and tap b4 turning off the engine, so green! While w app, turn off engine, walk out while searching the sign. It's crazier. Agreed paint it on the road the parking lot code! Either auto detect or get lost!
So silly when one has to step out just to get the right parking code.....the future??? 😂😂😂
either paint the cp code on the floor or place a sensor tht detects the car and gives the actual cp code
App is more advanced.. we are going backwards😂😂😂😂
Best if it can auto charge once a vehicle is parked and auto stop once the vehicle leaves Save all the hassle of tapping the device & checking which lot you’re at
Built in GPS but Still DUMB
Even at the Tuas custom I still need to take our the cash card and scan it at the custom counter. The worst part is the ERP cash card unit is installed below which caused Inconvenient to users..
Looks very painful, rather have the mobile parking app, which is a lot more convenient.
If on raining day ...
Can’t device detect the exact carpark via gps?
Stupid system! Waste time going out to fund out actual parking code, then return to car to activate parking. Just use the usual old parking app n be done
Walk to Check Code = Rubbish Feature
How to extend ur parking time?
"..can handle everything within the car" he says
Stressful in sg 😢
Needing to get out of the car to check the code, Parking app don't have to. Why every "upgrade" defeats the convenience purpose?
You think it's for convenience? It's for better (to the point of absolute) tracking of vehicles for parking charges
