A house cat's meow and a tiger's closest equivalent come from the same basic idea, just built on a completely different scale. Small cats like house cats have a flexible hyoid bone in their throat that lets them meow and purr continuously. Big cats like tigers have a more rigid version of that same structure, which trades away the ability to meow or purr in exchange for producing a powerful roar instead. Researchers studying tiger vocalizations have identified a deep, moo-like call that appears to function as their version of a meow, just at a much lower pitch simply because of the tiger's size. Tigers also chuff, a separate friendly greeting sound made by pushing air through the nose with the mouth closed, often used to greet another tiger or a trusted caretaker. One researcher even found that tiger vocalizations, when viewed on a spectrogram, visually resemble the same striped pattern found on the animal's own coat.

When I worked at the zoo we would hear this thinking it was a roar because it would literally shake the air from across the zoo and the veterans all laughed saying that's just their meow. If it roars it will shake way harder.
Sounds like the sportbikes that pass me on the highway.
Yes cats will bug you early in the morning if you dont make a move 😂😂😂😂😂
I can confirm my little 10lb cat sounds just like this. She is soo demanding
Imagine hearing this deep in the woods😂
I heard one of these kittens do this at a zoo. You could hear him from the parking lot and throughout the entire property. When you got close the sound would rattle your insides. Nature's subwoofer....er..meower.🐅
Sounds like one of those "zoob tube" things from my childhood, where you flip it upside down and it goes "bwwoooooopp" in this almost "springy" sounding tone..

ive seen almost the same thing with tigers when it was hungry in china and in the US, face to face. they were anxious when they didnt eat. i think that also explains why some people are hangry too!
Sure you can pet him. Once.
I noticed this when I was eight at the Bronx Zoo.
