But this won’t work because the lazer isn’t top down. The height difference with the angle of the lazer will make it not line up

No filter builds are wild. Imagine spending more than the original value of the car in mods only to have it all fall apart from a small bit of road debris kicked up by a truck 😂.

As a "hood" fabricator myself there are much easier ways to make sure you get the right cut

Marker/sharp pick in center, close hood on tip. Making mark of center underneath. Drill through, or use compass to mark circle for cut.

“No eyeballing” completely eyeballed

The further away and more of an angle the laser is will make a difference in where it lays out on the hood. If the hood is too far from the pipe (higher) you’re gauging it from, it will make the hole back further than what it’s supposed to be.

You really need two points down the center of that tube to line up with the origin of the laser for this to be truly accurate.

Make the intake long enough to just tap the hood when it shuts. Put grease on the end of the tube close it and you will get a pretty good idea of where to cut from inside the bonnet. Maybe put plug the hole with something and spread a thicker grease line on that to get a better idea.

A small projector with a circle skewed to match the inlet and then projected on the hood would work better from that angle

Easiest way to hang cabinets. I used to have 2 vertical laser lines, put them on the studs and then throw the cabinet up there and you know exactly where to put the screw

Yeah its how you do it the right way makes it easier its why tools where made and are still made. Im just happy people are useing them. Hell most tools have more than one use too. Cant tell you how many times iv chained together wrenches to get to a bolt i couldnt reach
