For those who are curious, this isn't done for enjoyment or to hunt them; rather, it's used to determine how many animals there are and whether a very huge population of animals are okay.

Licensed Falconer here. This trap is called a Bal-Chatri Trap. It has been used for thousands of years to trap birds of prey for falconry. The bird is not harmed in any way as the trap is monitored very closely and once its caught the nooses get removed and we check it for parasites and release the bird or depending on the age and species keep it to be trained for falconry.
