We were waiting for the text that would officially confirm we are moving to a new property — and while I waited, I did what I always do when the feelings get big: I went to the garden and got to work. In this video, I harvest cabbages, beets, carrots, potatoes, onions, dill, and cucumbers, then turn everything into five meals for what is going to be an absolutely chaotic moving month. We make deconstructed cabbage rolls (the lazy person's version, and I am not sorry), my grandmother's beet borscht, dill pickle sauerkraut, and taco meat for the freezer. I also have some very exciting news to share — I have officially signed a publishing contract for a book on northern gardening and preservation that I have been working toward for years.
