The Bugatti Typ.41 Royalé is a matter of only six cars made, five survive, half were originally sold, the missing one was owned and crashed by Jean Bugatti. The same 12½ litre straight-eight was used by Bugatti in his railcars. So although only six cars made there were over 200 engines built, in a similar way to the Rolls-Royce Phantom IV with a B80 or B81 engine, it was a Company restriction on sales, however the engine was manufactured in the thousands for "Alvis" Saracen, Saladin, Stalwart and Salamander vehicles.
