Welcome back to the cottage! Today is a big day, or at least, the start of one. After weeks of waiting and a few delays, the bricks for my dream greenhouse floor have finally arrived! In this vlog, I take you along to the Botanic Gardens in Dublin for some late summer flower inspiration while I wait for the delivery truck. Then, it's back home to tackle those endless summer garden tidy jobs before the heavy lifting begins. The bricks are finally here, and now the real work starts: wheelbarrowing hundreds of them into place. Iβm nervous but so excited to try laying a herringbone pattern in the next video. Do you think I can pull it off? Let me know your brick-laying tips in the comments! πΏβ¨ Join this channel to get access to perks: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcx0GWauE1_cQYSkk70y0YA/join πππππ Books πππππ I am delighted to announce that my second book, "Heart & Home" by Catherine Carton, is now available. Thank you once again for the garden tour!!! A suggestion for the brick herringboneβ¦..Use a chalk line down the middle of the first row and follow it to keep the bricks in a straight pattern. Full disclosure: Iβve never done it, but Iβve seen a number of other people do it this way. Good luck! I know youβll do well cuz you are sooo talented and determined!
You go girl. You can do it.
A bolster chisel is the one. I have my dads old one. Shame you so far away, I would happily give to you. I know my dad would have loved to see it getting used. Good luck with it all. I cant belive it was that long ago that you painted that floor, shows you how long I have been watching. Never tire of your lovely company x
π Want a sneak peek of the floor? /p/DbteBHWIc01/
Catherine you just never quit. You're the most industrious and creative woman I know!!! May your brick laying endeavor go smoothly and look absolutely fantastic when the job is done. Bless youβ€. I really enjoyed the garden tour and can't wait to see it in the Autumn. Big hugs to you and the kittiesπ
You've got this! It will be gorgeous. Be careful and mind your back. I like using a waist brace when I do heavy projects and my heating pad is my friend.
coffee in Botanical garden is always a good idea π
What a work, when you have a dream, you are just gonna do it. No mountain to high for our Irish girl π₯°π―οΈπ₯°
Catherine before you start the floor measure the corners- corner to corner like a great big X. Use your rubber mallet and a piece of wood to whack it straight or use the boys they like doing stuff like that but so do I. itβll keep your floor from looking wonky save you bricks and from your floor not looking rightπ love the greenhouse tours, beautiful the smell must have been delicious.
Making your dreams come true Dainty!! Congratulations! I believe I found you around the time of the painted brick. π
The Botanic Gardens are beautiful I love the walled garden and the glasshouse, fingers crossed for your new projectπβ€
I'm ashamed to admit that i still haven't gone to see the botanic gardens! They look beautiful! It always makes me smile and warms my heart when you say 'we are going to' or 'today I'm bringing you' 'and let's go'. It's like we're all sitting in your kitchen and you're telling us what's on for the day, like, we're actually there. It's like in this small corner of the internet we are one happy family, chasing beautiful things, relaxing in peaceful surroundings and just having a stroll, a yarn and a cuppa!πβ€π₯°π
I love the light colored tables. It shows off the green colors!
Catherine, YOU could quite easily build a shed like that! β€
Spiders don't bother me ( now if I lived in Australia that would be a WHOLE different story )....now roaches/water bugs...might as well burn everything down. I don't trust anything that can survive an ice ageπ
I know you will do a great job with the bricks in the Greenhouse.β€
I believe in you! It's going to be gorgeous!!!
Aww Sweetie, hugs and comfort to you π€. Enjoyed your lovely tour of the botanical gardens again and I immediately thought of the kitty tooπ. So look forward to watching your greenhouse floor transformation, youβve got this and it will be beautifulπ₯°.
Catherineβ¦Iβm not sure if you noticed or not, but near the water feature (time stamp 18:18) I saw a couple of bug trapsβ¦perhaps this is why they donβt have spiders in their greenhouses βΊοΈ
Love the library feel of the botanical green houses. This visit was so relaxing. I am definitely procrastinating since I need to pot some plants and clean my little patio but it is still hot this evening in the Pacific NW of Oregon, and muggy and gray from the forest fires. Over 2 million acres are burning in Oregon as well as huge fires throughout the Pacific NW and in Canada. Saying prayers for all experiencing the fires throughout the world.. May your week be blessed, MS C.πππππ
