One of these days I wanna see a thumbnail thats just "It was weirdly easy"
I'm no lawyer but I believe, at least in the United States, a giveaway/sweepstakes that can only be entered via methods that require payment is illegal. Might be worth investigating, as it would suck to get in trouble for giving away that N64. Very clean looking result though!
In 20 years someone will build a modern PS5 or XBOX Halo
, FYI your address is fully visible when you pick up your clear case package at the door.
YT ghosts bro's comments so he asked me to post: BlueRetro supports all 4 controllers from one ESP32… the RetroTime adapter just leaves out the other three. Also, you should follow one of the internal installation guides to co-exist with external controllers/accessories.
I'd like to see if you can do an add-on that adds the ability to plug-in Game Boy games for use in compatible games like Pokémon Stadium but make it look like the Disk Drive add on and have it slot into the bottom as the wireless mod you did doesn't allow the Game Boy pack to be used without an original controller.
Dude you could have just built the blueretro with a single esp32 to control all of the controllers. It cost me about $2 to do
Why did you pay for the blueretro dongles just to rip them apart? Just buy an ESP32 at that point. I’m pretty sure you can add multiple controller ports to one ESP32 and the blue retro firmware can handle them all. There is no need to have 4 ESP32’s in that case
This channel should be called ‘Zack builds with equipment you can’t afford’

Considering that the Retro Gem kit alone costs nearly as much as a Modretro M64 or an Analogue 3D, I think either is a much better option than moding an original N64.
im glad i went with getting a Limited Edition Atomic Purple Analogue 3D. got a summer cart for it and matching 8bitdo controllers. its been great and it regularly gets software updates that add features. it can do overclocking, it can now do save states and most recently they added horizontal upscaling that really improves image quality. it can also change aspect ratios and do scanlines and even mimic the look of CRT and BVM and PVM Monitors. its really the way to go for anyone looking for a modern way to enjoy N64. i highly recommend getting one.
5:13 You have to love old hardware for having useful markings right on them. They knew people would service these for years and the attention to detail was so much better because of it.
wish you would try to keep the original case instead of always making a new one. When designing a custom case it ends up looking like a 3rd party emulator console instead of a real N64.
I'm always worried about using buck converters for the power systems of older consoles. They can introduce a lot of voltage jitter that the linear regulators don't. Not sure if it's enough to matter, but the original chips were never tested against it so feels like rolling the dice a bit unless you verify the power through an oscilloscope.
You need a free way to enter the giveaway or you're likely running an illegal lottery FYI.
If only, you knew...... you can buy ESP32s for like, 2$ a piece- and a single ESP32 could handle ALL of the controllers, wirelessly either via wifi or BT, or BLE..... The ironic part, is I saw you stick at least 4 ESP8266/ESP32s into the N64.... and each of those is quite a bit faster then the N64 CPU. Also- kick ass build!!!
Very nice, I'm a bit surprised that the summer cart wasn't disassembled and just included in the build, though. Then the cartridge slot only needs to be used for original cartridges
I can’t believe how many times the n64 has been modded so many times from every body
Hey your address is visible at 19:00 on the dot using 2160p resolution. i’d suggest maybe blurring this part? i managed to find your house on google. just a heads up, there are quite a few weirdos out there who will do bad things with it.
