"from the late 1900s" oh my god
This is the polar opposite of vibe coding
The FULL BRIDGE RECTIFIER!😂
I'm fully onboard with this project. Maybe in a few episodes we can start comparing NTP and GNSS time to grid frequency?
Oh he’s alive nice
Late 1900s, bruh ☠️
Who else was waiting for him to say "Full Bridge Rectifier" and thought of ElectroBoom
Oh wow, in 1977 I designed and built my own 6 digit digital clock out of TTL when I was 12 years old. 7490s (div-by-10, 5, & 2), 7492s (for div by 12, 6, & 2) and 7447s. I also used the AC line frequency as the timebase as quartz crystals were expensive. Problem was, when my mother ran the washing machine, it would race forward many minutes at a time as the various wash phases switched over! My analog electronics expertise wasn’t good enough to figure out the filtering and signal conditioning aspects back then. ISTR I used a 7413 schmitt trigger with a resistor and diode clamp but that was it. Also 74LSxx was all a bit new in those days, so I used the original 74xx series that was also cheaper back then.
FOOOOL BRIDGE RECTIFIER!
Anyone else hearing ElctroBoom in their head at 4:19? 😁
Sadly the UK stopped providing corrections to the 50Hz to ensure long term clock accuracy a couple of decades ago, and the US is now also in the process of dropping corrections. The rest of Europe still corrects in theory to keep within 20 seconds,, but not entirely reliably. There was a well publicised event a few years back where all European clocks relying on mains AC for time keeping drifted by 6 minutes after the frequency dropped consistently below 50 Hz for weeks!
I thought my eyes were deceiving me, that indeed is a YouTube notification from ben eater building a clock! Awesome video :)
“I heard it’s very exciting” I said it, you said it, we all know it
Yes!!!! finally you remembered your Youtube password
A 15v drop across the 7805? You're gonna need a BIG heatsink.
He is back, welcome back Ben
this has to be the closest I've ever come to understanding electronics.. :)

If anything, this actually a useful video for electronics basics, touching on many little parts and how everything gets tied into each other, and the explanations are very clear and easy to understand. Bravo on your part!
Really enjoyed this combination of simulation, practical measurement, and diagrams.
