You've reached the end
Fuck, that’s heartbreaking. Imagine slowly loosing your mind and people around you getting annoyed with you
This got me fucked up
“I feel as though I’m losing all my leaves!” Brought tears to my eyes.
True horror is not to be someone with the dementia. To them - everything seems normal and sane. The worst part is being the caring person. I have been there twice.
I absolutely hate seeing old people in distress
I had a psychotic episode that lasted 4 days a couple of years back, and this is SCARILY similar to my memories of it. I wouldn't wish that paranoia or confusion on my worst enemy.
Ive read once that some people with dementia sometimes get clear heads and when they do they describe the most agonizing form of existence. Dementia really is a scary illness, because it takes away from your being piece by piece, like some form of torture.
The Father (2020) won two Oscars. It was also Anthony Hopkins' second Oscar for Best Actor and at age 83 makes him the oldest ever winner. Highly recommended everyone to watch the full movie
Currently I work in a nursing home specifically for dementia patients and it is so heartbreaking. I wouldn't wish the disease on anyone
The truth is though, the good daughter is often remembered poorly by the dementia victim and the bad daughter fondly.
I lost my dog to dementia. She used to run up to me and my siblings every day after school, tail wagging and licking the hell out of us. Eventually I started to notice she would just start ignoring me, stopped wagging her tail and only seemed to care about food. Then she started coughing constantly and wandering around the living room and kitchen in circles for hours and hours. Didnt even recognise me anymore, eventually we decided the best thing for her was to put her to sleep and let her finally be at peace. Miss you doggy, Emba ❤🕊
As someone who's worked in a dementia ward of a retirement community it breaks my heart to see anyone cry because they're scared and alone and don't understand what's happening I've lost several of my patients and it always hurts to think that any of us could end up in the same boat
I don’t know if it’s the edit or if this movie genuinely has the story to mess with my head. WHAT IS EVEN REAL???
This film was so fabulously acted, especially by Anthony and Olivia.
The carers who look after the elderly in distress with empathy and dignity are the best of us.
My mom passed from dementia in March. She started to decline so quickly that we weren’t prepared at all. What’s worse is that my dad has been showing symptoms for the past few yrs & they’ve become more prevalent now that my mom is gone. We moved into their house so dad could keep his routine & stay in familiar surroundings. Now he asks me where she is & if I asked her what she wants for supper. It’s heartbreaking, but if I corrected him it would be like he’s experiencing new grief every time.
Story about the horrors of someone suffering from dementia. I tried to watch it but it was too difficult, it's truly an abhorrent disease
Nope. I would rather sign off instead of live like that.
I spent 3 years watching and caring for my mum while she played this role. It was very hard. The only thing that made and makes me feel better was being there for her even though I was completely helpless at times. My sympathies to anyone caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s dementia now ❤.
I always see these kind of "Dementia" videos.. and theres a part of me that wished my dad had this type of dementia.. confused sure.. but able to speak and talk.. what this videos dont show is that this horrible disease can be so much worse than this.. i would give anything just to be able to talk to my dad properly.. even if it was about nonsense.. even if he thought i was a stranger.. Dementia is horrible i really hope we one day find a cure.
