SUDDEN 1000% Increase in Dog Meat Consumption in North Korea - Very Weird Story #shorts

North Korean state media has recently recommended dog-meat soup as one of several foods for coping with a severe summer heatwave. The advice appeared in the ruling Workers’ Party newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, during North Korea’s hottest period of the year, known as sambok. North Korean television reported a temperature of 36.7°C in Pyongyang, described as the highest recorded there. Some other areas of the Korean Peninsula experienced temperatures above 40°C. A doctor quoted by the newspaper recommended cooling foods such as watermelon, cucumber and mung beans. The article also suggested nutritious dishes including fish porridge, red-bean porridge and dog-meat soup. Therefore, the report did not say that dog meat was the only solution, although international headlines naturally concentrated on its most unusual recommendation. Dog-meat soup, called dangogi guk or “sweet-meat soup” in North Korea, is traditionally regarded as a stamina-building food. North Korean media repeated an old saying that even soup spilled on someone’s foot during the hottest days would act like medicine. The country has also organised dog-meat cooking competitions. The story produced shocked, disgusted and humorous reactions among many Indian social-media users because most Indians regard dogs as pets or community animals rather than food. Indian news headlines also presented the recommendation as something strange or disturbing.
