If it wasn't for the government making the national parks system this country would have even less Forest than we do now. And it costs a lot of money to protect and operate national parks. Do you really think the best option is to let people like Bill Gates buy even more forest land?

His plan is to eventually get the park defunded have a go up for auction and then add it to his property. After which he will then start changing people to camp hunt and fish or turn into more farmland.

When I was 15, my class and I took a hiking trip into the Tennessee mountains and camped for days NOT in a park. It was the most amazing thing ever

In Scotland, there are plenty places to camp that is really cheap...farmers let people camp and we have wild camping with no cost.

A good campground park is worth the money. Hiking and biking trails, maintained beaches, cliff diving, clean restrooms and showers, campgrounds with properly flattened lots. (Lots of parks like that in Ontario) Key word being a ‘good’ campground. If the quality to price ratio gets too skewed, I fully understand why some campers would prefer to try someone’s personal property that would likely involve more roughing it, because it’s less likely the owner put in all the work to prep it as a camping spot. And also, those people that pass on the park weren’t going to be paying the park anyway. This is like saying “oh, people aren’t coming to my overpriced restaurant and having a backyard barbecue with friends, the person who owns the property is stealing from me!”

Yeah dude, without state parks, the richest people are gonna buy up all that land, and then turn it into warehouses or factories, and then you can’t hunt there because congrats, all your deer and now mutate three-eyed monsters. For the record I know that’s an overstatement just trying to make a point. Public land preserves both natural beauty and keeps our environment healthy so that we have clean-er air and clean-er water. Government is not perfect I’ll admit but I’d rather have them than some private company ruining it all with their profits first mindset.
