In some countries, if a warranty cannot be honored with a full repair or replacement of equal quality (including specifications,) they have to be replaced with something that is both fit for purpose *and* of better quality

Louis rosmen had this same issue with a Samsung 990 pro 2tb SSD. He threatened to sue and actually took steps towards that I believe but when it seemed like he was actually gonna sue Samsung double backed and gave him either current market value for the SSD, or a replacement. This was after they tried doing shady stuff. Taking the SSD and "testing" it. Saying it was fine and then giving it back. It very much wasn't fine they tried blowing him off. We know damn well if we bought RAMs from them right now (if they still sold it), and then RAM got cheaper, they would refund the cheap price and not the full price. They'll always do anything to spare even a cent. Mr Krabs taught us well

Well in Germany replacement is clearly stated as „returning the situation to what it was before or paying money to make it exactly as it was“. So then refunding your Ram instead of replacing it, and you not being able to buy the same kit for the refund amount will never hold up. I’ll guess that Micron has either a different warranty solution here or hope and pray that the consumer protections agency don’t find out. Edit: I looked it up, yeah not only Germany, the whole EU is protected by this. If there are any other Europeans here, micron (or any other Company) MUST do everything to make your situation as it was before the defect. In this case, micron would need to pay the price of a RAM kit of the same specs as it costs today, call your Consumer protection agency if any company tries screwing you over. For my American Friends, I don’t think you guys have any chances. Micron clearly wrote their warranty in a way that they are theoretically still fullfillkkg it with this BS, and your laws are mostly Producer Friendly not Consumer Friendly

I have crucial and 32gb which I bought mere days before the price crisis started so I’m lucky but if they die I’m stuck completely

Ngl I would be so mad at them sending me 3 16GB sticks. There is a reason why we specifically buy certain size ram sticks based on our available MB slots. 3 sticks where you normally use 2 can mess up the whole scheme. The guy deserves an exact replacement and his old working stick back. Thanks Crucial.

People need to check their ORIGINAL warranties and see if REPLACEMENTS were part of the warranty because they would have to pay market value for a REPLACEMENT!
