The way Rick looks worried as Morty looks for the portal gun is a nice touch I constantly forget. Love when Rick shows this much care for Morty, and even though I wish he showed it more often, i'm happy he doesn't so we get this special scenes that leave a bigger impact

Moments like that in the show are dark but sweet. You see Rick genuinely let himself be kind to Morty and others and figure something out, and suddenly all the chaos slips away a bit and we're just watching a grandfather try to do right by his grandchild even on every drink or drug he could find that day.
