genuinely i dont think the modern internet is usable without an ad blocker

the internet is unuseable without adblockers.

The fact that we need a 'browser war' just to keep basic ad-blocking functionality is exactly why the internet feels like it's becoming a gated community. Proudly using Firefox until further notice.

Got so sick of ads, I put ad blockers on my computer at work. They tried to get rid of them but I keep reinstalling them.

You know how in Cyberpunk '77 it's repeatedly said that the internet outside the Blackwall is a nightmare hellscape of rampaging belligerent AIs? Does it seem to anyone else as if Silicon Valley took one look at that idea and immediately made an aspirational goal out of it?

Can you even use a browser without an adblocker these days?

As someone who works within cybersecurity, I believe ad blockers are essential. Malvertising is increasingly common, and Google hosts it in alarming quantities.

(*continues using firefox like I have for the past decade because it's just better.*)

Once again Microsoft advertising their competitors better than their competitors ever could. Something something btw

I've never understood why people are silly enough to use a browser from the world's largest advertising company when there's a better alternative like Firefox.🤷‍♂

With sites not doing a full scan of every single ad they accept and giving infected ads, I'll keep using adblock. But even for reading some pages it's horrendous with how many ads there are within a simple article or video.
