This will surpass the All-In podcast. Actually interesting stuff.
you guys are on fire, 3 episodes this week, wohoo
Wow!, what a podcast today. Naam is incredible.
Naam is the best guest you have ever had. His explanations are so clear and well thought out. Please invite him back again. He's incredible.
*Key Points to Remember After You Watch The Video. (Thank Me Later):* 1. AI needs a huge amount of electricity, which is currently the biggest problem for building new data centers (0:04:55). 2. The main hurdle for AI growth is not the cost of power, but the slow grid that delivers it (0:06:24). 3. Getting enough electricity for a new big data center can take until 2031 or 2032 (0:16:15). 4. Companies are looking at putting data centers closer to where energy is made to avoid grid delays (0:15:05). 5. Fixing the existing power lines and poles is a quick way to help provide more energy to AI (0:31:03). 6. Using batteries to store power at night when it is cheap can help run data centers during the day (0:33:09). 7. Solar energy is becoming much cheaper and is a great way to power future data centers (0:39:53). 8. Newer, safer, and smaller nuclear power plants are being planned to help meet the high energy demand (1:08:05). 9. Fusion energy is no longer just a dream for 50 years away, as many companies are now working to make it happen soon (1:21:18). 10. Some fusion companies hope to produce electricity directly without needing to boil water for steam turbines (1:25:50). 11. Launching data centers into space is an idea, but it is very expensive and hard to do right now (1:40:46). 12. The goal of building better energy systems is to create plenty of power for everyone (0:02:26). 13. If we can be flexible with when we use power, we can unlock a lot more energy for AI (0:32:03). 14. Modern grid software can help balance energy usage, especially with more electric cars on the road (0:37:45). 15. We should change the rules so power companies are rewarded for how fast they deliver energy (0:27:43). 16. Finding ways to do more AI work with less energy is a big goal for the future (1:59:26). 17. AI does not have human goals; it just follows the logic we teach it (1:51:28). 18. The human brain is still much more efficient at processing information than current AI (1:59:32). 19. We need to use many different energy sources like solar, wind, and nuclear to be safe and successful (1:33:15). 20. Understanding energy is the most important step for growing our world and intelligence (2:04:59). I hope I can get to 1 million subscribers soon. 💪💪💪
You guys are killing it!
Best start of the weekend!
I'm driving from Virginia to New York City. So glad I caught this on the drive. Love you guys! Keep making the bangers
As another commenter mentioned, this would definitely surpass the All-in podcast. I appreciate Peter’s wisdom in avoiding politics & polarization, negative tabloid takes for going viral, and staying focused on technology, optimism, and longevity topics. Salim, Dave & Alex are a great fit for such a mission. EMAD is a wonderful frequent guest and I would be so happy to see the old singularityU pals here again like Ramez & Ray. Please invite Aubrey as well ❤
DAMN! What a podcast; Ramez was on fire! One of your best episodes so far.
Another one so soon! What a gift!
Thank you for another video this week! Moonshots abundance is my favorite
Guys. I just finished watching the previous episode ! Feels like binge watching in real time !!!
Amazing episode. Please bring on Naam again soon.
Wow, Let us have an episode with Alex and Ramez leading the entire discussion. I love how they get to the issues fast.
Love it! Ramez is so intelligent and was a great guest.
Best guest ever. Bringing real numbers to the discussion is so important.
Ramez Naam conducts a masterclass on energy, its generation, and distribution....WOW! A truly great podcast Moonshot...
Thanks for putting this show together! This has to be one of the best episodes yet—super educational and nicely presented. Anyone watching or listening will learn a ton about the current state of energy. I especially appreciated how objective this one felt, without the lean toward specific companies or CEOs that can sometimes happen (though I know that's common across most shows). Also, this was my first time hearing about Ramez; it's so reassuring to know we have people like him working at the forefront. Thanks again!
Wow. Need to have Ramez back on!
