Highly suggest you take the journey into fully learning the Thai language, as well as your child. Anything else you are living in a screensaver and have a MASSIVE MASSIVE disadvantage in more ways you could ever realize. Anyone telling you otherwise, respectfully, doesn't know what they are talking about. This is coming from someone who has been living here for 20 years; the first 5 years I spoke nothing, now I'm fluent. Your world will open up and change EVERYTHING ten fold. 40,000 THB ($1,200) rent for a two-bedroom condo is very reasonable for Bangkok, especially with the amenities you've got. I don't think you overpaid for the place you've got. It can be confusing when other people give you mixed messages.

It's so cheap there! 😮 Unbelievably cheap! 😮 For some foreigners who don't know the truth about the cost of living in Thailand, the truth is that Bangkok isn't the city with the highest cost of living in Thailand, but Bangkok (the capital and special administrative region) has the highest monthly income in Thailand.
