HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BOSS!!!
Any factory engine that comes in a consumer car that could blow up from wrongly clocked spark plugs should not exist.
The horse on the Garrett turbo core is the "Stuttgart horse," meaning the casting for the turbo volute was made in Stuttgart, but the core was made in the USA. If you order the replacement turbocharger from the Garrett parts catalog, it's all made in the US and it doesn't have the horse.
I remember seeing this in a previous comment, but I like “Legit Sweep Car” for the floor sweeper!
Ok, Alex, here you go the name of the Altel scanner cart should be "AL2D2". There.
This has been my Saturday morning cartoon for the last 6 yrs!! Love this channel!!!!!!!
i think i would put a visual mark on the plug even with the opening of the spark plug gap so that you can easily see where the gap is facing from the outside of the engine
Building an engine for a streetcar that is sooo finicky that the spark plug indexing being off will destroy the engine is absolute peak engineering stupidity...
We used to index plugs on performance engines in the early 90s. I always made a mark on the porcelain where it was visible from the outside.
Who knew that spark plug indexing would be so important - thank-you!
This tear down is exactly why I’ll keep my old cars that are much simpler! The complexity is is insane.
That sucks for the guy through. He tried to do the right thing and he seems like a cool person.
''Sam's crack'' 😭
Alex, call your Diagnostic cart CART2D2!!
Take a black marker, and make a line, on the top white part of the spark plug, lining up with the tip of the spark plug. Then you know where the tip is, even after the installation.
Alex! I think the horse logo on the turbo is from Carlsson a German Parts Specialist. They use a jumping horse logo from the Stuttgart Coat of Arms. I may be wrong but I believe that to be true.
Alex, look in the turbo on the cylinder 5 bank for the piece of the piston
Brother almost hits himself in the eye but still doesn't put on safety glasses LOL
We used to use different washer stacks in NASCAR to index the plugs. If you put a mark on the white ceramic of the plug you know which way the spark plug is facing after you torque it.
Having to index sparkplugs to a 45-degree tolerance, else the engine blows up, is such BS, especially since the Mercedes plugs didn't even index correctly!
