It was doing that in Windows 10 as well. I fixed it by excluding the VLC folder from Windows Defender in the settings.

That's why moving to Linux is better. Also VLC works perfectly with Linux I imagine. I'm also a Windows veteran, but with all that Microsoft does I don't want this guiltiness anymore and want to fully migrate to Linux to set me free from the evil corporation known as Microsoft.
