I love the mid to late 2000s era Latitude and Inspiron laptops. They were specifically designed to be easily repairable by local IT teams. So easy to work on.
I love those woodwork cases. Seeing a laptop like this makes me want to track one down and irresponsibly buy one for my collection.

Re-PC is awesome! When I still lived in Seattle I worked in IT for a mid-sized company. One of my quarterly tasks was to haul computer gear that had been cycled out of our various buildings/plants to dispose of. Re-PC's staff were always awesome and even gave me a tour of their processing facility. Definitely worth a visit if you're ever in the Seattle area.

I worked at a university law school and this 600m was our recommended laptop since it was pretty powerful and had a ton of options. Super easy to work on. Lots of memories from stacks and stacks of these.
That's a beautiful old laptop. I was in college studying software development when this line of Inspiron laptops came out. A classmate of mine had one with a faux brushed aluminum lid. Dell dominated the home PC market in those days. I still remember those cornball TV ads with the cool hipster bro saying, "Dude, you're gettin' a Dell!"
Seeing the woodgrain takes me back to the family furniture we would have: reddish wood but not the burl. You also inspired me to get woodgrain vinyl for when I built my first computer and everyone I showed the photos to LOVED IT. Natural materials, and color, need to make a comeback. Also see through plastic, but to a lesser extent.
