This 2025 Ford Explorer was written off after a small puncture damaged the high-voltage battery casing and cooling plate. With a replacement EV battery costing around £33,000, we look at why the casing isn’t sold separately and how we transferred the battery modules into another housing to save the car. #FordExplorer #EVBatteryRepair #ElectricVehicle

They don't selling casing because all markets are directed to kill us economically and politicians are only puppets on strings
Take it to an old school radiator repair shop and be amazed.
Ford won’t sell the battery casing separately, so a tiny puncture can turn into a £33,000 battery bill… does that make any sense to you?
EU should fine the manufacturers for this and make them provide these parts
They are evil, no right to repair laws
Now i see that i stay at replacing piston rings as long as i can. 😂
Wow! So environmentally friendly.😮
Just make an aluminum formed patch and epoxy it over the damage after cutting out the deformed coolant line. I have a sheetmetal fab shop. I should start making patches that have that custom shape.
This is a learning process not only for you but for everyone. Continue to point at the problems so everyone can learn. 😊
One good reason I'm so in to the older shifting cars
He is honest and hence the respect
Every video that you make is absolutely awesome. I love the way that you explain things. I think you’re doing an awesome job, but as far as the battery casing is concerned, no dealership is going to go to that trouble they may or may not have the technicians to do the job the hours involved to do the job at a dealership outweigh the benefits EV Repairs will become and give the power back to the independent repair such as yourself and what I also like about these videos is it you empower every single one of your technicians with the upmost respect
JB weld, done
I would totally figure a way to repair the damaged cooler tube. If the metal is thin, then its not under a lot of pressure just high flow. Can't be much different then a radiator.
A good welder can fix that. You can easily laser weld that thin material. You CAN also pulse TIG it as well. There are options to fix it. You just need the right welder to be able to do it.
I do HVAC and we’ve been brazing aluminum for years now. Our brazes need to withstand upwards of 600 psi as well.
No doubt their excuse will be ‘safety’. Whenever you don’t want to do something, just bring out the ‘safety bat’ and hit the problem with it.
The engineer of that part and its placement are now the new Vice President of engineering for Ford and VW.
I just did a case swap on a damaged high voltage kia ev6 battery. It was a very good battery and well put together. I really do love kia evs and the ability to fully repair any component on the high voltage battery its a huge plus!!! New battery was $46,000 ish canadian and i did the case swap repair for a total of $19,000 canadian and that saved the customers car from being written off
So you bought the casing for VW ID4 ❤ ?
