China, the scam killer. Luxury watches made affordable, handbags made affordable, great EVs cost less, excellent guitars affordable, etc. Not to mention electronics. Now printer ink cartridges. Thanks to China!

I worked for HP back in 1980. Even then, it was a company full of bullshit and arrogance.
I was always annoyed that ink cartridges were so expensive here (in Switzerland and Italy), but when I went to Asia they cost a tenth of what they do here. Furthermore, they had printers with 300 ml tanks and printed for a year free of charge. The 300 ml cost $5.
I just ditched my Canon printer. The ink is too expensive, and I am not stupid enough to pay the price. I found an expensive printer that can be refilled with bottled ink. Furthermore the Canon will not copy or scan, if just one of the cartridges is empty. Scanning does not require ink at all. I simply dont want to be treated like an idiot this way.
Is everything in America just a scam to make the most money possible?

My school bought an Epson printer, the WorkForce series, that runs on four ink packs, only 39ml. The cost, a shocking $105 each ($420) to print only 5000 pages. A scam.
I refuse to buy any printer that requires an internet connection. I have extended my no-buy policy to ANY product that requires an internet connection. (other than a computer of course!) The horror stories from people who are trapped by terrible user requirements of products is sickening!
I wondered why my wife was always buying a new printer for the home office. It was cheaper to buy a whole new printer than to replace the ink cartridge. Fve or six times per year? Rediculous?
I have a Canon printer and have never bought propriety cartridges. A full set of colour and B&W cartridges for less than £10. I would never buy an HP printer with it criminal ink limitation. I advise anyone to look on the web for compatible cartridges. They work perfectly at a fraction of the price

Neighbor of mine was a freelance journalist. She was working on a story on deadline, on Sunday, when her printer stopped working. I came over and tried to get it working. I finally got the black ink printing, but not color. As best as I could figure it out: She had subscribed to the HP "ink subscription" which she got in the mail. Her ink ran out, so her boyfriend went to Staples and bought the HP original brand cartridges. Apparently, even though she bought an HP cartridge in the store, the serial numbers and registration wouldn't work. I can't take that chance.
What you need is a government that is not totally and absolutely corrupt!
I HAVE A BROTHER COLOR LASER Brother MFC-L3720CDW $460 The Toner never drys up or clogs. It costs me $129 (aftermarket) for 4 new Toners that lasts me around 4 years. Ink Printers are a SCAM. FYI - worked for Epson for 3 years.
What is even crazier I have genuine HP cartidges for my printer , HP Blocked them because they were too old and the chips didn't meet the latest standards. Also I an HP Industrial printer which cost close to10000 dollars when new, and the still play the chip game with the cartridges.
I stopped buying Ink Cartridges for my Home Printer many years ago. They were always waaayy overpriced. I simply paid a bit more upfront for an ink jet printer that has Ink Tanks. One fill up and Im good for 6k pages. The refill containers are very nominally priced. They also offer many times the ink quantity, so less money for alot more ink.
