I feel like Rick relies on Morty to be the one to have remorse and fear FOR him. He doesn't feel much anymore, and almost uses Morty to basically outsource his feelings. But you can tell in this scene that he wishes Morty still had his Empathy, because Morty is pretty much the only person who truly empathises for Rick.
