South Africa looked in complete control in the first half. The scrum was dominant, they were winning the breakdown and physically they seemed to have New Zealand exactly where they wanted them. Then the second half happened. Injuries, replacements, mistakes and some really uncharacteristic errors saw the game completely change. The Springboks lost their grip and the All Blacks took full advantage scoring 5 try’s. How did South Africa go from looking so dominant to falling apart like that? And how much of it was down to New Zealand turning the screw? I break down what happened and where the game was won and lost.

Im a South African and I think the Referee was excellent. Ref had nothing to do with the result of this game.
As an Australian I don't know why people are shocked that NZ won. Even when the AB's are in bad form they're still a top 3 team, and they're not really in bad form anymore, they literally beat the Springboks last year. Their record over the last 25 games is 21 wins 4 losses, the exact same as the Springboks. I'm not saying they're better than the Boks, but people were acting like they were the Wallabies out here and had no chance. TAB had NZ at $3.50+ odds which was wild, easiest money I ever made. This game was a 50/50 to begin with, why are people shocked the AB's won?

I find it interesting that when Scotland or Argentina come close to a B South Africa team, everyone heaps praise on them, but then somehow seem unimpressed when the All Blacks beat their number 1 team. The All Blacks are unbeaten this year and I keep hearing “they only just beat a French B team, the URC teams are in their preseason without their Springboks”, honestly, they’re just playing who’s in front of them and finding a way to win. They deserve more credit.
I don't know how you can say they're not used to losing to NZ. They've got plenty of experience. People have very short memories.

The decision not to sin bin Savea for the high shot was the best piece of common sense refereeing I've seen. So many incompetent ref's would just say head hit shoulder that's a yellow card.
I find it really odd that just because South Africa was dominating the scrum in the first half, everybody is saying that it looked like a foregone conclusion that they were gonna win. Are you guys forgetting the fact that we crossed the lines for two good tries in the first half and the scores were pretty much even? The way I see it, we were winning the backline play, they were winning the forward play for the first half. It never looked to me like a foregone conclusion. And then once we got parity in the scrum, well then our backs could go to task on the Bokka.

Jacobson law - he’s allowed to take the man if he is in like with the ruck. Imagine if you couldnt - youd have players blocking the channel all day and the players behind have empty space in front. The ref let himself down on letting the BOKs wheel the scrum for too long and missed the Al Lande punch and obvious yellow for e third deliberate knock on. The over filling of the TMO was explained clearly and correctly.
