In Brazil, the law is the opposite. You HAVE the right to hack any device, even more if the reason is that it stopped working and manufacturer does not cover it anymore. But even expanding the capabilities, like adding support for playing mp4 files, is a valid use of the right to remove digital locks.
Just received the Microslop shirt, and the 15th anniversary edition mouse mat. And I must say, the quality of both did not disappoint! And the mouse mat makes my mouse feel so smooth and accurate. In Australia I am currently taking a hardware seller to court for telling me I am not entitled to a refund and the classification as a 'major fault' is up to the whim of the manufacturer and my only recourse is a repair, which is legally incorrect under the Australian Consumer Law. I was tearing myself apart thinking 'should I? shouldn't I? is it too much work? stress?', but I finally pushed myself to follow through and it was WAY easier than I thought, the response from my Final Notice is due in 3 days, if no refund occurs before then it goes to court.
