I'm sticking with my M4 Pro mini, it's plenty of computer for me.

I have the M4 Mac Mini with 48 GB - Qwen 3.8 27B run, but with a relatively small context of 75k using oMLX. It is sufficient for small context loops but breaks down with interactive prompting as the context window will fill up quickly. I'm getting about 20 tokens/second. I would expect a lot better performance since a good deal of that is memory bandwidth but I would want a MacMini with at least 64 GB of RAM for serious local AI work.
For my needs. I’d need minimum of 32 gb ram, 2 tb SSD. Sadly the memory prices gone up.
Apple should have at least increase the base 256gb to 512gb.... 899 Dollar is too expensive for me
Interesting that even after released, the M4 had an MSRP of $599, but you could regularly find it below $550. I actually purchased one brand new on Amazon for $480 at one point. Then... ramageddon happened...

My M4 Mac Mini Pro with 24GB and 1 TB that I am looking at right now is a beautiful thing.
One choice I dont get, especially with the huge cost bump, is the tb4 ports. The m5 pro version gets better peripherals, why not the new m6?

Really bummed they didn’t release the M6 Pro Mac Mini! I still have a maxed out, except storage, M4 Pro Mac Mini and it definitely doesn’t seem a good enough upgrade to just the M5 Pro. Looks like I’ll be waiting until they bring the base and pro models back into line with maybe the M7.
Not a good value given the limited ssd and ram.
