'made with love' meaning 'made by a woman' 😂 Ye badiya tha 😅
I came to Canada when I was 15 years old around 25 years ago with my parents and we have been meal prepping since then. You cannot survive in North America if you do not freeze meals and thaw them when you wish to eat. Best thing there is. Married my wife from India 7 years back and when she came here, she disliked the concept of freezing meals because she thought food spoils once frozen and everything should be cooked fresh as what her mom did in India. Fast forward to now, and she meal preps EVERY WEEK (as we both work) and thaws it once we wish to consume food. Wish Indians would be more open to this as not every household can cook fresh food on the go - not when you have all members of the household working
"But most Indian households treat the freezer like a graveyard for ice cream and forgotten peas" 🤣🤣🤣 what a thought! Accuracy level 💯
Finally someone is speaking about working women and cooking… i know a lot of women who are have worked all their life, who always made to feel guilty, even in this era..
“Food looses nutrition within two hours is a lie” that is basically designed to guilt a woman into staying in the kitchen till she dies. Each meal takes atleast two to 3 hours to make from entering the kitchen to cleaning the stove and walking out , we eat three meals a day that’s up to 6-9 hrs of cooking. Then there is a tea/ coffee. India does not have a health problem , it has a misogyny problem . And it is costing us everything.
A must watch for all Indian graduates from whatsapp Universities.
7 hours of unpaid work for women is crazy!!! That cannot be overlooked and has to be acknowledged as a part of our culture intrinsically
I am a single parent ( father) doing this cooking tasks for almost 8 years for my kids in addition to my corporate job. This has put immense pressure and stress on me and just a month ago I employed a cook to prepare food in the morning. I feel a little better now. Earlier I used to spend a lot of time planning what to cook when and my brain would be crazy busy. Men should lend a helping hand if you want home cooked food.
I didn't believe frozen foods were better than fresh until I started working in a lab where we did stability testing on things stored at different temperatures. Since then I freeze everything and prefer to buy frozen vegetables at the super market.
You are like claude these days. Dropping bombs every other day
We broke the taboo and villainisation of grinders, washing machines, refrigerators etc, hopefully we shall introduce dishwashers, microwaves, vegetable choppers and air fryers to save tons of our valued time
Even now, my friends who are well educated state that microwave is not good for health. It spreads cancer. But in my home it's well utilized. I sincerely thank you for your eye opener videos.
At the risk of sounding cheesy, I must say, I absolutely admire this gentleman and the work he does!
I am an Indian working woman, living alone with a busy schedule, I cannot imagine a week without meal prepping or bulk cooking. And it is so difficult to cook the correct amount of food for one person for one meal. The fridge is my best friend. I don't have a microwave, I reheat in the airfryer, or over a steamer in the electric cooker or in the pressure cooker.
I like the fact that you called eggs a veg source. I am sure many would disagree😅
This video was much needed esp with all the fear mongering you see in the social media these days including everyone's obsession with so called "fresh meals". I am not even in the workforce and still value my time and effort. I pride myself in being very serious about my meal prep - every starchy thing is always cooked ahead and sits in the fridge to build resistant starch (including the aaloo for aaloo paratha), sweet potatoes for chaat, and arbi for stir fry. Daals, quinoa are no exceptions. All chopped veggies ready to cook sit nicely in the fridge until they are ready to get cooked. I love my refrigerator, stove, air fryer, instant pot, microwave and pressure cookers BUT most of all I love my one on one time with my family instead of being in the kitchen all the time!
I don't just notice the pattern of people relying on women for cooking and other tasks at home but also the fact that the Indian houses are not even designed to give value to those women. The fact that the kitchen is the hottest spot in the whole house, during summers, it gets worse and most houses don't have fans/air conditioning to keep the place cool, says a lot about the country and how they choose to ignore the needs of half the population entirely.
As a single, working woman in her late twenties, who already struggles with executive dysfunction due to neurodivergence and the added household work, meal prepping is a blessing for me. Cooking is what helps me emotionally regulate and also helps stay deeply focused on something I love. I meal prep twice a week, Sundays and Wednesdays, make desserts Saturday night and freeze them for the week and most importantly, DON'T LISTEN TO MY IDIOT RELATIVES AND FRIENDS (not that I have many lol).
This video should be available in all possible indian languages to spread awareness and educate people. Please consider this as a request
This comes from a woman who refuses to be domesticated - THANK YOU, HEARTFELT, for your thoughts, intent, the research and the effort it takes to propagate this idea that could liberate a lot of women! I believe domestication of women starts with cooking! Guys these days are ready to "help" with the chores, but cooking, nah, 'we' cant handle it! As a mol. bio'st, thanks for keeping it simple for the laymen's sake! I only wish people understand what you say - especially the men who think left over rice is poisonous! Now I have your video to share, saves me from a lot of talking! Thanks again, yoz!
