The Tefi is remarkably crackle free
For those outside the UK, when Techmoan powers up his stack of hi-fi equipment, the lights here in the UK dim a little.
I don't possess any 78 rpm records, not do I intend to buy any. Yet I'll watch an entire Techmoan video about the various EQ options. Cheers 👍
Spent 30 minutes explaining the deep nuances of 1950s German magnetic tape and microgroove equalization, only to put the record player straight back in storage. Peak Techmoan
copyright holders: "nobody's going to buy these copies of "sugarfoot stomp" if people hear 12 seconds of it in a techmoan video..."
"Your RCA record collection sounds best with a genuine RCA record player!" *Sony frantically taking notes for the future*
23:20 Cat sighted! 😻
I had absolutely no idea there was so many different 78 EQs. Madness.
The riaa/78 switch sounds almost like turning Dolby B NR on and off

Amazing to finally hear the Tefi sound like back in the day. Astonishing good really.
78 records really are remarkably good in the right circumstances, given the technology of the time.
New Bond movie title?
Can't wait for 'The boy with the magic guitar' Armand Van Helden club remix. 😎
Now I need The Boy With the Magic Guitar for my next mid century cosmic tiki party
Now we need Cuba Baion with the new EQ
On some of the older record players you could flip the stylus over, 45/33 one side and 78 on the other.
Thumbs up for the free cat content at 23:20
that Sugar cube did a wonder on that 78 during the credits.. sounded almost like a digital master
I could hear the difference in the first example. But then I'm into sound engineering. The clarity of the vocals on that second record was outstanding. Correct EQ really matters.
