I miss my buck so much. One time the across the river neighbour came by and asked, "Do you own a orange dog and a deer because early every morning I see them walking up and down the river together and then they disappear up on your property, so I figured they were yours." It always makes me smile when I think of the life they shared together, kinda like The Fox and The Hound. Someone, some asshole killed that beautiful 3-year old buck out of season, we're sure of that because he was home after the season ended. We think we even heard the shot, but you can never be sure. Even to this day I call for him in the forest just in case he's out there and he's forgotten he has a home. This will be the third year he's been gone...it still brings tears to my eyes. He was such a special friend to our farm.
