βThe data is not important.β β Xabi Alonso. π Chelsea beat Brighton 4-3 despite recording their lowest Premier League possession in 22 years β while also completing their fewest passes in a league game since 2004. But Chelsea scored four goals and won the match. Under Xabi, we're seeing something very different: less obsession with possession, more direct football and an emphasis on getting Chelsea's dangerous attackers into scoring positions quickly. Jose Mourinho won ugly but WON
Cannot agree more ,a win is a win Right now, gathering points is all that matters Weβll build real momentum through results, and if we're serious about competing for the title, we can't afford to drop silly points along the way
This is without PALESTRA and Caicedo
I canβt tell you how many times in the last 4 or so seasons Iβve audibly wished Chelsea would adopt a a low(er) possesion, counter-attacking style, especially with how often we lost to such teams.
Last season Chelsea dominated most games in keeping the ball possesion averaging 60%, but lost most of those games to drop to the end of the top half table.
It's just our defence that needs an upgrade
This is similar to the style of football we had under Pochettino and which brought us the best version of Palmer

If 3 points are guaranteed, Iβd live with these stats every match day
It didn't even feel like it. I mean, I'd the data wasn't read to me, I'd have no idea I've watched horror shows and this one was a stark contrast!
All of that means we were very efficient with the ball. I loved how with only 4 completed passes we found ourselves at the opponent's 18 yard box from our own 18. No beating about the bush, straight arrow. Chelsea is in transition- the most painless transition, so far, of any manager ever
Winning 3 games in one week is extraordinary thing

Let's not forget that we've been missing our talisman in breaking up play and disrupting the opposition.
Itβs pointless having lots and lots of possession and being unable to score or win games like most of the end of last season where we had 65 to 70% of possession couldnβt score a single goal. I like this new approach. Being direct and no more unnecessary sideways passing in the final thirdβ¦
FACTS, GEORGE
Against arsenal we need this midfield Neto. Lavia. Caicedo. James
The thing is though that we have been winning within 5 minutes each game, going up by two early as well. Fulham and Brighton needed to be more aggressive from the beginning in order to try and come back. Not worried at all abt the lack of possession
I'm sick of teams using low block and counter attacks to annoy us , if this is what helps us beat smaller teams I'm all for it
A win is a win but we also need to possess the ball as that's the best way to defend. after the 3-1, we would avoided conceding 2 more goals if we were calm on the ball. Anyway, as long as three points are secured. But we need to do better vs Arsenl, i really want us to put belt on them.
