My favourite fact about Gretzky’s record is that you could subtract all his goals and just leave the assists and he’d still hold the record for most points in NHL history. McDavid is great but I’d be shocked if, by the end of his career, his combined goals and assists even match Gretz’ assists record.

To all the people saying it’s a stretch, we all said that about Ovi breaking the goals record. Of course it’s unlikely, but it’s not unfathomable that he gets to 2500 prior to age 40, if that’s the case then you wonder how long he’d go for a chance to break the record. In any case he’s for sure gonna be #2 all time
