Systems engineer here. The point is that CPU has few general purpose cores that can run pretty much anything, while GPU has hundreds or even thoudands of simple cores that do math the best. Think of it as 8 skillful chefs vs 1024 kids. Each kid can make small pizza while each chef can cook brilliant meal. Also GPUs are bad at divergent work (heavy branching etc) unlike CPUs. That's why CPUs run OS and games and apps while GPUs render graphics and accelerate certain workflows. Ofc this is simplified to some extent but this should let you understand the meaning behind this example.
You do realize that in a GPU there is a chip very similar to a CPU but only the CPU chip can give instructions that well so they used a CPU VS a manually coded robot attached to a paintball gun.
One is 1960's and the second shot is 1962's Now i understood why the VFX and CGI's going low quality.
