Considering the catcher could eat a bat doing that, seems like a good rule.
Those who don’t get it. Catcher can not interfere with the batters ability to swing when pitched. Simple rule , simple catch by the ump

For anybody wondering, the catcher is not allowed to interfere with the batter's ability to swing at a pitch that was thrown towards him. It also puts the catcher in a place to get smacked with a bat in the back of the head.
