Rookie mistake. Goggins had never touched a hamburger for 20 years

For those who don’t understand: Goggins told another runner at an aid station that he was going to sit down and eat a burger. The runner believed him and stayed there, while Goggins actually left and kept running. That helped Goggins finish 23rd while the other runner finished 24th.

How could he believe that

He probably just didn't do it. What's the big difference between 23rd place and 24th. It doesn't really matter. Those races are a lot about finishing at all. I doubt there was malice intent
