I don't remember anything from part 1 but I don't think that's really going to make a difference in my understanding of this one

The emphasis on 'recap of the FIRST Danganronpa game' offers the tantalising/horrifying possibility of further recaps of later games.

3:13 the reason why there are flowers on each desk is because in Japan it's customary to leave flowers on the desk of someone who has died

Very nice reveal of Mukuro Ikusaba. The sixteenth student, lying hidden somewhere in this school. The one they call the Ultimate Despair. Watch out for her.

Truly a pioneer of my new favorite youtube niche, "Longform explanation with bordering-on-special-interest level detail explained relatably and humorously, in monotone, in front of a conspiracy board" You are constructing the 2nd library of Alexandria here, no notes

1:29:54 Fun fact, if you talk to Hiro during Free Time enough times, he reads you a fortune where "The mother of your children and the mother of my children is the same woman" and that's foreshadowing to this ending

Funfact, Junko Enoshima had at one point a Guinness World Record for being the most cosplayed character. That is one of her many impacts in popular culture. (Nowadays, it is Hatsune Miku).

1:32:40 I’ve always interpreted her plan as her trying to use the trial to prove that the mastermind broke their own rules. This is effectively what we see in the last trial of the game. In trial 5, Kyoko is trying to prove that the murder didn’t make sense, that none of them could have killed the victim. However, she can’t let Monokuma know that’s her plan, so she has to act like she’s trying to prove Makoto did it. She believed that Makoto would be able to prove that he couldn’t do it and believed that she could also prove that she couldn’t do it. If both of them could do that, it would thus eliminate every student as the blackened and prove the mastermind broke the rules. I also think that’s why she was so taken aback by Byakuya’s suggestion and Monokuma cutting the trial short. She realized that it is technically possible that Makoto could have done it and neither of them could think of a way to disprove the suggestion. That’s also why Monokuma picked that time to end the trial, it was effectively his last way out of the situation. Monokuma ending the trial early was something she couldn’t account for and it ruined her plan. That’s also why she’s somewhat apologetic to Makoto, she basically knew the whole time that her plan could result in his death and she took that risk without his approval and caused him to be “executed.”

"and that's how he found out that a local burger place was lying about serving 100% beef patties. That story doesn't matter at all, but I thought you'd wanna know" I did, in fact, wanna know 👽
