Aside from jail time, they should be banned from any pet or animal care related industry to prevent this from happening again

So this story verifies why I'll never use any pet sitting service. If I can't leave a pet home on their own I just won't get one.

I would've kept the stray as well. I rescued a kitten from the bushes outside of my old job and then rescued a feral kitten a few months later. I named the feral kitten Jalapeño because he's spicy. 😂 Now the first kitten is a little over a year old and Jalapeño is about 9 months old. They're very close in size and have almost identical markings. The only real difference is Casper has green eyes and Jalapeño has amber eyes.

I would have kept the stray too. Poor cat, she was probably so thankful to be somewhere safe and was then discarded 😢

If 'pet sitter' had a copied key why did the neighbour have to let her in? Also, if OP didn't have a pet sitter how did one have her key in the first place to be copied?
