The markup for storage is quite crazy.
I’ve read that Apple wont be putting out M6 Pro / Max / Ultra, and will be jumping to M7, along with the souped version chips soon after.

The M6 has only two so-called "super" cores (previously known as performance cores), along with ten more-or-less efficiency cores. Sounds like it's good for lightweight multitasking along with hardcore monotasking performance. As for the 170 GB/sec maximum RAM bandwidth, it's less than half the 400 GB/sec RAM bandwidth of the M1 Max Macbook.

Apple said that they didn't anticipate so much business demand, especially coming from running local LLMs. So I believe they want to capture this demand now and get those pre-orders in. Perhaps they are releasing the new Macs earlier than initially planned.
