I don't know what I would do if I faced this scenario. I know for most men there is no coming back from this. As far as his friend, he would be dead to me. I know more about this story then most as I had a few conversations with OP on Reddit. I also have a copy of the lengthy email she wrote to him. She actually shot herself in the foot by the way she worded that email. As far as I know he never took her back. I think it was the smart move to not reconcile with her. I as a man know that walking in on your significant other in the act really multiples the chances of no reconciliation. The mind movies are bad enough but when you have an accurate vision of the adultery you really will have that embedded in your mind as long as you stay with the person. Don't put yourself on that emotional rollercoaster it is not worth it.
