10:23 The reason negative infinity is getting displayed as "-1.#J" is because of a weird quirk in how float formatting worked for older versions of the Windows standard library. When you format a float with two decimal places, you expect the second decimal place to get rounded up if the third decimal place would have been "5" or higher. As in, if you format 5.132 with two decimal places, you get "5.13", but if you format 5.137 with two decimal places, you get "5.14". Basic rounding rules. Thing is, prior to Visual Studio 2015, the Windows standard library applied this rounding logic _without bothering to check_ whether the value was a normal finite number! So if you try to format negative infinity (which would normally be displayed as "-1.#INF") with two decimal places, the old formatting code would see that the third decimal place is "N", which is higher than "5" in terms of raw ASCII values, and therefore round the second decimal place up to a "J". I find this very funny.

NaN most often occurs when performing invalid operations! there's an obvious case in division-by-zero, but it isn't just that. for instance, because of how floating point works, 'infinity' just means "a number too big to store normally", and 'zero' just means "a number too small to store normally". multiplying them together, the value could hypothetically be any real number, depending on what such values happen to truly be. so, it resolves to NaN.
Amazing editing, just created a custom portal map with stage dressing at 22:50 just to demonstrate the concept. This is insanely well done
