It's honestly wild to me that keeping them on display in tiny jars, in a store where the employees probably don't know anything about taking care of them, is legal. Like, that should be illegal. It is unnecessary and cruel.

That awkward 'dance' is likely because he's overfull; his stomach is the size of his eyeball so he's being overfed. He may be ok for a few days being heavily fed, but it will cause issues later on.
this little guy is incredibly strong, I had a beta fish named Fred when i was around 7 or 8, and one day my mom being careless caught the kitchen on fire. thinking quickly because the fire was spreading really fast, she picked up Fred’s aquarium and poured it out onto the counter to buy time until the firefighters arrived. well it was like 20 or 30 minutes later and one of the firefighters said he found a fish flopping around on the floor when they were doing a damage check so he put him in a cup of water. Sure enough Fred had survived and lived another two years. these little guys are absolute units

7:25 I think the reason he was doing that "dance thing" was probably because he was bored, its similar to how humans bite nails but with betta fish, either that or he was just really mad at his fins 😂
I know there are a lot of Betta lovers that will criticize you for buying a fish from a supermarket or big box store, but I applaud you for rescuing this beauty. He would have died within days. It's a tough decision because the purchase tells the business that they can make money this way, but to walk away and leave him there while knowing that you can save him is worse imo.
I rescue a dog from the street. I couldn't take her sadness away. 2 Days later I rescue a beta fish half dead, in horrible condition. I set him up in a tank and my rescue dog came to see him. Since that moment they somehow comunicate with each other. The dog sat in front of the tank for hours and the fish seemed fascinated with the big eyes looking at him. Later I got my tablet behind the tank playing some beautifull underwater scenery. My fish was having such fun time looking around like he was really there. They are both gone now but those times are part of my sweet memories now. 💛
I've rescued many Bettas from appalling conditions here in Singapore. Been doing it for twenty years. It's very rewarding.

I used to work at a pet store. One of the worst jobs was throwing out all the dead betta fish. They would come in shipments of 100 at a time. Most of them would end up dead. It was awful
Bro is the best doctor I have ever seen. Bettas (especially the genetically modified ones like this) are super fragile and need super attention to live PEACEFULLY yeah literally I should say PEACEFULLY. Where people usually fail, this guy fixed him in a month. Hats off Saiviour!
