I have a Windows laptop because I have one major program that runs on Windows. But when I wanted a new laptop, ideally with a 15" screen, I found that the MacBook Air M5 using Parallels Desktop would run my Windows program faster than it ran on my older Windows laptop. So, I bought a MacBooks Air 15 and have been very happy with it and use Parallels desktop to run the important Windows program.

If I were limited to Windows vs Mac I would choose Mac. Fortunately there's Linux and I'm pretty happy with Mint.

And here I am on Linux syncing my Android phone with KDE Connect like the Android phone is an iPhone syncing with a Mac!

Windows User for the last 30 years, 10 years working in IT for Azure and Microsoft products, bought an MacBook m4 max a year a go. The start was a bit rough, but man... The build quality, the details in general and that the systems stays out of my way plus service and support if and when needed makes it another product completely. No regrets ! If only they would support more games or gaming in general i would change my gaming desktop in a heart-bit.

I made the switch for laptops exclusively in 2022 for a M1 MacBook pro from 2021 and it's phenomenal. Doesn't even compare. It's fudjing amazing. It's still going very strong and it's quiet and has long battery life.

I faced this recently when I bought a new laptop. On my PC I use Linux (Ubuntu 26.04), but when I started looking for a laptop with high quality build, fingerprint reader, and haptic trackpad, the Macbook Pro with M5 Pro was the best value option, other models would lack on something, not be available at the time (like the ThinkPad X9 15p), or being priced quite high when compared to the Macbook Pro. Thanks to you, your team, videos and the website, I was able to learn a lot more before doing the purchase and I'm happy with it. Thanks for all your dedication on those videos and the website.

People who use word heavily like I do, often prefer windows because its easy to open 15 world docs on windows and cycle between them than it is on mac. My wife uses an M3 air. I try it all the time, trying to convince myself. But there are so many specific little things in my use case where Windows just works! So I suck up on using objectively worse devices.

TL;DR: A MacBook is like a balcony — it offers a great view, but at the end of the day, you're still trapped on a balcony. I've been using a MacBook since the M4 Pro came out. It's a gorgeous piece of tech, with a fantastic screen that's bright enough to work outside in daylight, and the speakers are mind-blowing after coming from a Windows laptop. Most of the time, it runs like a dream; Adobe tools literally fly. It's crazy that they work better here than on a €5,000 PC. But... The trackpad is great, except I actually had better gestures and more control on my old Acer ConceptD laptop. On my old setup, I could zip between windows effortlessly, whereas here I'm forced to watch every single animation just to figure out where I am—unless I'm using apps in full-screen mode. But then the top menu bars change, and after a few switches, I completely lose track of what I'm doing. And I really miss that Windows feature where you drag a file to the edge of the touchpad and it just keeps scrolling. On Mac, I have to perform finger gymnastics just to drag a file across the screen, but fair enough, that's a habit thing, even though Windows objectively has the upper hand there. When something stops working, like a phone hotspot or connecting to the wrong Wi-Fi network, getting it back up and running is pure science fiction. Don't even get me started on large business events where every second person has a Mac and AirDrop completely dies. Connecting an Android phone to a Mac via cable is about as easy as winning an argument with your wife, so I have to use an external SSD for transfers. I connect my phone to the SSD, dump the files, then move them to the Mac, and repeat. And I know this might sound unbelievable to someone in the US, but majority of people out here use Android, not iPhones. Like 70-30% or something like that. And Finder (File Explorer)... that deserves a tribunal of its own. Just two quick examples: selecting photos with Shift, say from #115 to #227, only works in List View, not Icon View. So if you want a visual preview of the photos you're selecting, you'd better write down the exact file numbers (e.g., C938915 to C939127) first and then go hunt for them in the list. Second, copy-paste works everywhere, but "cut" works for text and a few other things—just not for files, where it's essentially "copy then delete" later and you have to use different key combos. I know it exists.. There are inconsistencies like this all over the place, where something works in one spot but suddenly doesn't in another. I won't even go deep into the fact that I've had more unexpected macOS restarts than I ever had on Windows, or that my Mac has randomly drained its battery overnight in sleep mode few times. Nobody knows why, and there's no Apple care in my country so I'd have to travel somewhere to check it out. Overall, I agree that macOS is generally more stable and definitely has plenty of advantages over Windows, but my point is that it's far from the flawless system many people make it out to be. That said, the battery life is genuinely fantastic, and it's completely silent—at least until you start pushing it with heavier tasks. Once you do, you can drain that battery in under two hours, and the fans sound like they're ready for takeoff. Honestly, I wish it would spin those fans up a bit earlier, especially when plugged in and under heavy load, because it noticeably throttles performance just to stay quiet. Still, considering there is currently no better machine on the market for video and photo editing alongside scriptwriting and general work, I'm sticking with the Mac for the foreseeable future. I'd highly recommend it to anyone doing this kind of work, because right now, there really isn't anything better.

I like phone link for Android. Find it works great. Probably doesn't work well with iPhone because Apple doesn't want it to work well.
