Definitely need to test the torx in internal hex. I find myself doing that all the time instead of hunting down the correct Allen bit.

Here across the pond Pozidriv is quite common. You can easily date things by looking at the screwheads used. If it's PH then it's quite old, Pozidriv is 90s or so, then somewhere in mid 2000s the great switch to Torx happened and now all the new things are made with Torx. Some exceptions still exists like ready made hinges come with Pozidriv, they would likely be PH over there. Incidentally that's the reason why you often see PZ in Ikea furniture, it's simply because it's the "standard" cross head screw over here.
19:19 flathead is also great for adjustment screws. Where I typically find them factory made. Carburetors mostly, stuff that doesn't get super tight but rather just needs to be positioned precisely.
Best part about Robinson is its ability to hold onto a screw without a magnetic bit
There was a very specific use case for flathead in early industry (think screw heads 2-4inches across in massive steam machines) you could put a bar in the head and have a breaker bar situation going. Flathead scales to incredible levels, but at sizes FAR beyond use cases today. I saw them once on an old 500 ton press in Cleveland once.
Would love to see a video with PH bits in PZ screws. And PZ bits in PH screws. I've met many in the trades that wasn't aware of the difference....
In aerospace we use Torq-Set (aka offset cruciform) all the time. I have no idea why. But you should test it because if it's good enough for aerospace hardware it must be good. It's like a 4 wing version of tri-wing.
Would have loved to see Socket Head Cap Screw alongside the button head screws. Both are internal hex, but button heads are known to be comically undersized and easy to strip compared to the more standard SHCS.
Robertson is tapered so the screw stays on the driver, priceless for one handed driving.
Would love to see what would happen if the driver bits were misaligned by 5~10 degrees, more representative of real life use I would say.
Glad to see Torx getting the love it deserves. As a guy who works with wood more than cars, Torx is the undisputed king.
Two comments I’ll add. I’m a convert to the Canadian Robertson head screws. I recently removed a heap of decking boards with Robertson head screws and most of them came out without even having to get the dirt out of the heads. 6-8 needed further work with a small pick but every last one of the came out. I purchased an expensive set of torx sockets because I’ve broken so many and these came with a life time warranty. I recently snapped one, again, so I returned them and was given a new set no questions asked. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
Ah - you missed one - flathead slotted wood screws in (#10 size is a good size to test / compare)...Completely different animal when it comes to the cut thread forms for wooden boat building and why the head is strong out to the edge of the screw head - important for silicon bronze screws. It's also easy to clean out the slot later on when it's full of paint or sealant. So every screw head design has purpose-design an application in mind. Thanks for the video!
I've found that filing/grinding down the point of phillips bits a small amount often helps it make a tighter fit to the screw, as sometimes the bit bottoms-out before making good contact with the cross-points of the screw. Of course, this isn't always the case (depends on the screw and bit used,) but it's definitely been frequent enough to justify me specifically having an extra set of filed down bits for those occasions.
