First Verified All-Solid-State Battery Hits Mass Production — Here's the Real Timeline for Cars Industry analysts now say 2026 marks the "verification year" for all-solid-state batteries — small-batch prototype trials and vehicle installation testing — with 2027-2028 bringing small-scale mass production limited to premium models from makers like CATL, BYD, and QuantumScape, and genuine large-scale, affordable mass-market adoption not arriving until after 2030. 👉 Use my referral code when you join Amber to get a $120 free credit. 👉 Follow me on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/share/1BY23jNvkt/ 👉 Visit web: https://theelectricviking.com 👉 Book a 1-Hour Consultation with The Electric Viking via the link at https://theelectricviking.com/consultation/ 👉 Sign up for my newsletter here ► https://theelectricviking.com/newsletter/ 🔔 Subscribe and hit the notification bell! ► https://theelectricviking.com/1-click-youtube-subscribe 👉 Use Australia's best Solar, Home Battery and EV charger comparison tool - It's 100% free to use: https://compare.solarchoice.net.au/the-electric-viking/?sca=electric_viking 👉 Join me on Patreon ► https://www.patreon.com/theelectricviking 👉 Join as a member in The Electric Viking YouTube► https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjzi56cxvmEDwjo1Bd2Yxpg/join 👉 Members-only videos (see videos before anyone else)► https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=UUMOjzi56cxvmEDwjo1Bd2Yxpg 👉 Support by sending Super Thanks! This is the reason I lease EVs. And only for two years at a time. That and I'm 76 years old and only buy eggs a half dozen at a time. 😁
Aviation needs these batteries.
Thank you for not going to AI slop. Really appreciate your dedication!
I’m a shareholder of a small RV company. And because of my background, I sit on a few committees—including its technical design committee. Because of space and weight considerations, we are quite limited in what we can build into any design except for the very largest luxury options. We have been thinking hard about our future, including what an all or majority electric system (chassis and box/coach) would look like. We really need a breakthrough like this to make it happen. We are eagerly waiting, knowing that this is a huge market opportunity for us in the US and Europe. I know we are not alone. All kinds of vehicles (cars, trucks, RVs, boats, planes, etc) are going to take leaps in functionality if players like CATL can make these available at scale and reasonably cost. I think I feel like some of the auto manufacturers in the 20s and 30s; there is so much advancement just on the horizon that we can only dimly see right now. It should be a fun ride.
Real game changer mate 👍
380 watt hrs/kg would be great for electric bikes or folding scooters. It would make possible a light weight hand carried vehicle you could take on public transportation. E.g take with you on the subway and have it to go the last km to your destination.
I pray for the success of SS Battery
Can't wait for a large suv EV with 1000km wltp range
I love your channel for all the latest renewable energy news
Liquid batteries have their limits and downsides. Their volumetric density means smaller cars can't get enough range for the highway, and bigger vehicles just end up way too heavy. But once the supply chains are set up, solid-state batteries will bring the price of the whole car down to match today's liquid-battery models – because these cars will use less juice, everything else on the vehicle will be cheaper to make, and the cooling system will be way simpler.
These belong in aircraft of all sizes, NMC are as good as cars need.
The comment about putting these batteries in a larger SUV is aiming in the right direction. I would like to push that idea a little further. These solid state batteries might find a better use in industrial and commercial applications where there is a good business case for using a more expensive battery. The first application I would suggest is in underground and open pit mining where the machinery works is a limited area and a power source is always close at hand. The next use case that I can think of is a port facility where vehicles manage the flow of thousands of containers a day. Think of how much diesel fuel could be saved by going electric...
Next step should be foe moto cross motorcycles.
By now the public demands basic standardized metrics for useful consideration.
we need these for hyperlite e bikes
Badly needed for aviation sector. Badly needed for motorcycles, and racing series. Highly beneficial for automotive and trucking.
We will need a high energy density battery for aviation. I'm not saying this is it, but it's a step in the right direction. For a car I'd value slower degradation over extra energy density. Current ranges are already good enough for most trips, and fast charging helps a lot with the rest.
The donut lab battery was also verified by a Finish independent institute: 408 WH/Kg. The DL battery is based on bipolar electrodes, a game changer.
Sodium based batteries will likely address the vast majority of use cases for the next decade. Solid State, due to cost will be reserved for low volume edge cases; short range aircraft, hypercars, space based data centers etc.
