They probably do pump air to avoid build up of heavier gases like CO2

Valid concern. Wait until he finds out a plane is a sealed tunnel in the sky.

To be fair its a perfectly reasonable question π

One side takes it for granted the other is actually questioning the thing we take for granted.

They have enormous fans that ventilate the tunnels. it's pushed in one ends and pulled out the other. Just like opening your front and back door for draft effect.

Kaleb is actually kind of correct tho. They do have to circulate air through the tunnel to keep O2 from being used up.

I love watching someone genuinely puzzling things out being berated by someone who can't explain it.

Kaleb is precious and it's a great question. Most wouldn't even think about it.
A simple Google search . . . "Yes, massive industrial fans actively pump fresh air into the Channel Tunnel system. Large axial fans push fresh air into the central service tunnel at a high volume and higher pressure than the rest of the system. This air then flows through controlled doors into the main rail tunnels to keep the air breathable and push out stale air." Seems that driving a tractor enhances common sense more than driving a Maserati.

The air is pumped through, I took some of the equipment down to Calais on a truck when they were building the tunnel....

To be fair, the movement of the train through the tunnel will pull fresh air in!
