I have heard some versions of this where the Sea Witch gets Ariel's sisters to give her their hair in exchange for the information on how she can return to the sea. Interestingly, the Sea Witch isn't a villain in the original story. She's more of a scholar who knows things and accepts that others who haven't read the small print on these spells are going to demand she helps them.

Also, Hans Christian Anderson wrote this story after the guy he was in love with (but didn't love him in that way) married a woman.

Surprised this wasn't mentioned, instead of just giving up her voice, she had to have her TONGUE cut off as payment Edit: spelling

Her sisters had to give up their hair to the sea witch for the knife. I always wondered if the witch picked things at random as payment or if she had some kind of plan for those things

In the book, she's never called Ariel. And the Sea Witch doesn't plot anything evil, she's a neutral force that requires heavy price for miracles. She took the little mermaid's sisters' hair in exchange for a dagger that would have saved the little mermaid and grant her 300 years of life under water... if only she didn't love the prince so much.

I had a skit idea. You may see this comment. You may not, but Iโm still going to give it out. The guy who always has a beard and points out people who thinks is witches you should do a video where heโs there and all the witches heโs ever called a witch go against him because he somehow always knows where that person is and when theyโre about to do something that makes them a witch so he must be a witch if he is able to always know where they are and what theyโre going to do wrongI โค

Did you know that the Little Mermaid was kind of inspired by a gay love story? The author Hans Christian Andersen loved a man and exchanged letters with him. He was sad that their forbidden love couldn't be pursued and wrote the story based of of legends as a metaphor. Like the little mermaid couldn't live the human, he couldn't love his lover.

Never heard the version where she becomes a wind spirit. It makes me so glad, the original foam death ending made me so sad
