Once in a while, my son can unlock my wife’s phone with his face. Apparently they look that much alike. Most of the time it rejects it though.

You also do realize that, if a cop takes your device (this has happened in real situations) they can force open your phone with your face or fingerprint, but they CANT make you type your password. So, from a legal standpoint, its safer to have a passcode. However, if they have Cellbrite technology, they can bypass all security, including passcodes and biometrics. P.S. most police forces have and use Cellbrite technology. There are currently no laws against them using the technology to scrape all of the data (even if deleted) off of your phone, store it in a database, and use anything incriminating against you. THIS IS REAL AND THERE ARE DOCUMENTED CASES OF THIS HAPPENING IN AMERICA. Word of advice, never give an officer your cellular device (EVER); you're never truly safe.

Gotta say tho Stealing a phone and pointing it at someone’s face to unlock it is really easy. Stealing a phone and making someone press their finger against a specific spot for long enough is much harder.

Police can legally use your biometrics to open your phone but they can't force you to tell them your password or open the phone for them because you can invoke the 5th.

Well, I don’t trust biometrics at all because finger prints can still be extracted, with a peace sign selfie in the offline realm and Face ID people can just put tape to keep your eyes open and while unconscious, so I have a long but easy to memorise passphrase, not a passcode or password or any other pass, I tested it and it says it takes centuries to crack.

With phones now attaching hardware IDs to every component in the phone it’s getting harder and harder for these thieves😊
