SUPPORT OUR WORK https://store.gamersnexus.net/data-dragnet Microsoft has filed for a new patent that describes a credit system to "rent" software and games, including rate-limited rentals based on the type of use. In their examples, singleplayer costs more than training mode, but multiplayer costs more credits than both. Users can 'earn' credits by subjecting themselves to more advertisements during loading screens, round win or loss screens, and level loading screens. The patent technology can be applied at the application level, OS level, and device level, making it wide-reaching and affecting more than just Windows machines. In one instance, Microsoft explicitly names Smart TVs. This would be similar, in some ways, to ACR (Automatic Content Recognition) on LG or other Smart TVs, where the patent-pending technology could scan the screen and audio. Windows advertising for Linux again....
“We own the silicon” - Microsoft, probably
“We noticed you have looked away while Ad is playing. Please return gaze to continue, or Ad will remain paused.”
MicroSlop saw what LG did, and said “Hold my beer!”
Microsoft is just malware at this point.
This all sounds a lot like a legalized Remote Access Trojan
Oh god, please, no more Microsoft coming up with ideas. We have had enough.
Imagine your game lagging because your computer is trying to predict when to inject an ad lol
The oligarchs don't think that you're human. The feeling is mutual.
Thanks Steve, this will pair perfectly with my Meta glasses, Apple watch, Alexa, Google cameras, and LG tv
We're supposed to be outlawing personalized ad targeting, not adopting more heinous variants of it.
Any game studio who allows ads on loading screens gonna be boycotted for the rest of my life.
We should charge Microsoft for using our own hardware to run their advertising software on our PCs.
EVERY COMPANY LATELY: “How can we make sure that our customers know that we hate them”
i have no words anymore. the world has gone to shit. there is no limit to stupidity and human greed. companies are run by greedy children
Every day, I get closer to canceling my internet and phone.
The best ad experience is no ads at all
lets be brutally honest....THIS is why they want datacenters so bad. Stuff like this, flock, phone tracking...all this surveillance that wouldn't have been possible even 5 years ago. Forget all that shit they say about curing cancer, etc. This is what they're REALLY after
At this point, it seems like every company is trying to out-evil each other
