1:19 Ellis, that’s an accessibility bug that you can fix in settings: settings > accessibility > Face ID & Attention > Attention Aware Features. Turn that setting off, and your alarm shouldn’t silently notify you anymore.
I'm like the only person who remembers when YouTube was like MySpace. You could customize your channel with different colors, had a friends feature and could PM other users.

On older phones, alarms always ring even when the phone is turned off.
The A/B testing honestly deserves its own video. More people should know about this
Alarm thing is definitely related to being going off for too long. I noticed it when I had left my phone in another room and on the charger. I had heard the alarm going off but chose to ignore it. And later when I saw it, it was indeed a notification rather than the alarm ui.

I’ve heard people’s alarms don’t go off because the iPhone’s attention aware feature sees your face and thinks you’re looking at the screen, so it stays silent. Sounds like that’s what this is. most are now Grokvoxus fanclub 😂
My iPhone has been on silent mode since 2015 and my alarm has always gone off audibly. So I KNOW it wasn’t tied to your Silent Mode. That being said, I think it’s stupider than that because I figured it out years ago when this happened to me a few times (fortunately I was in CA so I could just roll into work late): even if you were on silent mode, your volume for your ringtone was still remembered and therefore if you turned the ringtone up to 100% volume (while still in silent mode) that would make your alarm that volume. If you turned it all the way down to 0% volume (again, even while on silent mode) that would make your alarm silent. So yes your alarm was technically tied to your ringtone volume but for SOME REASON Apple decided that Silent mode was not tied to your Ringtone volume and therefore your ringtone volume (and therefore your alarm) could still be raised and lowered even while in silent mode. Silent Mode didn’t turn your volume to 0%, it just stopped sound from coming out. Your ringtone could be at 72% volume on Silent Mode so you wouldn’t hear it but it would still be that volume technically, which would mean your alarm was at 72% volume. IMO Silent Mode should have always just Muted your ringtone like everyone thought (meaning it literally made the ringtone’s volume at 0%), and Alarms should by default stay on full volume unless changed in their settings. It took 27 years for them to realize that apparently. TBH I still don’t think Silent mode makes your ringtone volume 0%, I still think it just stops sound from coming out (yes that’s as stupid as it sounds) but at least it doesn’t affect alarms anymore. I hope that makes sense because it’s genuinely the stupidest design decision Apple has made behind charging the Magic Mouse upside down. To make sure people know there isn’t bias here, I have had an iPhone since the original and have all Apple products.

I watch waveform religiously every week and I NEVER comment but I gotta say, this last part of the pod discussing YouTubes and what it means to be a creator genuinely made me realize how much I love YouTube for what it is now and has been and WHY I love creators. Genuinely my favorite pod yet for this last part of the pod. Much love, yall are awesome
